Love will always humA Poem by Prolific In VerseYou are your own true rival The jealous mirror of Copernicus To love means to run into the depths Of the root black night To stroke the jungle of your hair Is to explore the state of your mind If I were not a poet I’d become a stargazer And read a lot more Than jotting verses in my notebook The assembly of your visions Has made it into my ecstasy Nook and cranny, eye of a hurricane Public squirrel of a public square Along an unknown street I’ll watch the sparking and burning Of a pair of lovers who made it Further than I ever did And I won’t think of you To the last heart-beat like I might of yesterday, I’m more myself Human and simple ready To surge forward, ready to Outlive who I survived myself to be. © 2013 Prolific In VerseReviews
