The Calling

The Calling

A Poem by Priya Tyagi
"

It requires a certain kind of madness to follow your passions. The road not taken can be confusing and treacherous. Is it worth listening to your heart? What if you fail?

"

 O’ what have you done?

You have stirred the unknown

How cold and comfortable were we

living the mundane

Why did you ask your purpose here?

What good did it bring?

Only to rob you off

your sleep and sanity

Why did you stir such passion?

which you cannot hold

Why did you break the dam of fear?

to unleash the rivers

of your inner being

And let them deposit in heaps

That creativity on their beds

If you had just listened,

“Tend your sheep”

“Mind your keep”

Don’t wander off

into the treacherous terrain

of the beating heart

Now, you are exiled for life

Such a fool!

Such a, damn fool!

sometimes we are content to just wade through life at an even keel but with no excitement...and no chance of hurt---but if we allow ourselves to really feel...it is dangerous, but makes life jump outside that mundane box...and even with some pain attached, it is worth it.
