Silent wordsA Poem by Shanmuga PriyaThe melody of unspoken words can only be felt...When
I look at your eyes, I can see my past Which
reminds me how the days went fast, I
often skip a beat looking at you Because,
you fill my life with a never ending hue, The
number of times our eyes meet… I
fear no man has faced such defeat Mesmerized
by beauty, I spoke not a word… But
the language of love was still heard How
I wished the distance between us would end… Still,
with you I have a lifetime to spend O
Lady born with a silver spoon Ask
and I shall give you the moon
Years
rolled by with unspoken words For
here the silence ends… I
can hear the church bells ringing And
melodiously the choir singing … Despite
the gathering, our eyes meet Wondering
how life’s choices can be so discrete With
cheeks flushed like an autumn rose, I
watch you take your final vows… Oh!
What have I done, why do I feel so hollow? Now
I recognize my eyes buried with sorrow… For
there you stand with your soul mate And,
here amongst the crowd I’m cursing my fate…
