Mirror

Mirror

A Poem by Priscilla Nishi

My enchanting mirror on the wall
I don't mean to break you or let you fall
I am annoyed by the fact that you reflect only the others beauty
Or maybe it is because they are prettier than me.

I yell at you at the top of my voice!
Asking you who is the most hideous of them all
I wasn't surprised you uttered my name
Trust me I do not want complements nor fame.

But can you reflect the emotions inside me?
Can you understand or can you feel?
A girl who values creations is locked within
Hidden under the shabby dark skin

Or are you aware that her lover is wisdom?
Her sweet blood flows in veins of kindness random
I bet you can only view me externally
But why not the pure soul inside me?

I'd love to one day break through that glass
And argue for not analysing a genuine lass
Oh someone make a mirror for this world!
To reflect emotions ,not fake hair nor beard.

I like the logic of the poem.
"Oh someone make a mirror for this world!
To reflect emotions ,not fake hair nor beard."
A wise person looked at the mirror with real face and accept who is looking back. A poem for thoughts and to be ponders. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

An interesting piece, only if mirror could reflect our emotion. It would have been much easier to know which emotion is influencing our thinking so much. Enjoyed reading it, thanks for sharing.

Ummm.... this was AWESOME! I liked that you played around with the "mirror, mirror on the wall" rhyme and made it your own. You long for it to see your inner beauty, understand that you are not just what is on the outside (though I am sure you are gorgeous) and want to be known for your soul and ideas. Great work, I loved this piece.

So you want a mirror that tells your emotions...
you're stare at it...its the truth --- which hurts...if you look at the mirror --- blindly...
would you perceive beauty at all...no...
it could not otherwise tell you your emotions...
no matter how many times it tried...
the beauty of it all is seeing life blind...
and expressive for what is the physical after all...
it's expiring each day...
never comes back to what it was yesterday...grows older...
and soon the same person is the mirror is still beautiful...
just worn down with age...it may of changed internally...of what it was
--- that happens...good to bad vice versa bad to good...
its the facet of life --- we take for granted...
sometimes its just better off to not look in the mirror at all...

my pleasure dear
nice thought.. a mirror for emotions will be interesting.. may be than only we will be able to figure out who is who after all... i only look at the emotional side of works..n this one touched my heart for sure.. standing in-front of mirror we surely go through many questions..not just about appearances but also about what our face is speaking.. thanks for sharing :)
