My Own Hand

My Own Hand

A Poem by pringle

It is impossible to understand
unless you travel a similar path

It is typical to become overwhelmed
By the first gasp for air upon waking
Feelings overlap and immediately intertwine
like two lovers in the dead of night

It is likely I will scar you.
I will confuse love for the deepest anger
and shove you away
just like everything else that once meant.

It is a certainty I am petrified
of being forced to leave this world
with nothing but a broken hearted ballad
about that one that got away..

But it may be possible
and by my own hand.

Wow, I love this piece! The second to the last stanza speaks volumes of truth to a solitary life.
Keep up the good work.

Tommy
