sugar and cheddar

sugar and cheddar

A Poem by princess elie
"

this is a poem about being a child inspired by the innocence that the writer witnessed in the eyes of her cousins

"

I will live to tell the stories of your mischiefs and delights,

of the wonder in your eyes

upon seeing the butter melting in the cauldron

with corn, coconut milk, cheddar and sugar;

of your excitement at the battle that you are about face

carrying only a metal spoon as a weapon;

of the perseverance and courage

that your little brows show as you shove yourself

in the battlefield full of kids, like you,

craving for a piece of sweet.

I will live to tell the stories of your adventures

with dragons and mermaids…

with wizards and witches…

I will live to tell the stories of your journey

in the widest sea of splash and showers..

I will live to tell you the tales

of your mysterious tears

that fall on your cheeks on rainy days

when you begged to the sun-god

to light the sky once more..

when you swear you will trade your marbles

just to have one ray..

I will live to share one more laughter with you..

to wipe one more tear..

to eat once more the pink cotton candy

while serenely watching the clouds..

I will live to tell you the tales of your innocence..

before I let you go to see the world

to find your own place..

I will live to see you grow

to watch you weave your own stories

that you will pass unto the next generation of dreamers.

I will live to watch you discover your worth

and I will be there to hug you

when the universe failed to conspire

to what your heart desires.

I will live to tell the stories of your dream..

of your defeat..

of your courage..

But for now…

give me the simple joy of watching,

recording how you slay dragons,

how you win battles,

how you fly in the wind..

and I will collect the stories..

the tales of your journey

that I will pass to you

when you already forgot how to smile

OH my.....how very exquisite and dripping with commitment, concern, and friendship from the heart - how could you be one who could care more than all you express!! I so much already "love" the you of YOU!! So, for now, please just do all of these things and anyone who is your friend shall be so honored and LOVED!!
A wonderful write that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!!

A very good poem. I like the flow of thoughts. The description open the doors to good visions and thoughts. I was surprise by the ending. Sad when life take away our dreams and fantasy. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I love this poem, we all need someone like that in our lives. Besides that, It's got this....I don't know, quality of contentment to it. That kind of sweet, unrequited love and and commitment. You know, when you sit back and let others enjoy the spotlight, and when they forget that feeling you are happy to help them remember. It's a wonderful read.
