lack of a sidekick

lack of a sidekick

A Poem by prim
"

a friend betrayed me....and this is just me venting a little leftover emotion

"
we waded in a sea
of a new day and age
and waves of depression
licked at my cage
but you swam away
and left me to drown
i thought i heard you say
you'd never let me down
i had no one
without you by my side
 when the day was done
i thought you'd join me on the ride

remember when we were small,
sharing each other's dreams?
you would help me when i fall
but right now it  seems...
that the friend i had in you
was a temporary gig
and now that we're through
i see you walked me to my brig

so tell me now, where was my fault?
what have i done
that brought our friendship to a halt?
forget the past; a new era has begun

Author's Note

prim
dont't worry, this happened a while ago, and things are a lot better now. losing a close friend is a very painful thing, which is one of the reasons i was so depressed (and why my writing is so dark). the only possibly good outcome of this happening is something to write about :)

. beautifully written ... profound, true and incredibly poignant ... before em (my best buddy now) ... i had a friend who was my best friend for nearly one and a half decades ... and when she was my friend, no power on earth could've convinced me that she disrespected me or humiliated me or made me smaller than i was through sheer emotional manipulation ... to feed her ego ... but after we ceased being friends ... i've realized what a fool i was ... respect is everything ... and i wish you the respect of a really good friend ... and soon ...

I think you kick-as so screw you-know-who and we'll go swimming and hang in cages together.

Amazing poem. The flow is excellent and I really liked your rhymes. It conveyed a lot of emotion too, great work.

"the only possibly good outcome of this happening is something to write about :)" i just said that same line to my friend on here yesterday!!! thats why i am thankful for all the pain cause i wouldnt be able to write! good poem :) there is one thing id try to fix *in my opinion~* the rhyming is good but then in order to keep the flow the number of words in the sentence usually have to match up to make it sound better

for example

too many words...

i went to a park
someone looked at me from a bench
the moon (was outside but everything) was dark
it was time for his revenge

--------------

i went to a park
someone looked at me from a bench
the moon she was dark
it was time for his revenge

i went to a park 5 words
the moon she was dark 5 words

---- when the day was done
i thought you'd join me on the ride---- too many words
