Dream of the Seed

Dream of the Seed

A Poem by Cricket Kidd

On a soft bed of earth
Beneath a blanket of dirt
was a small black seed
that would never know hurt
would have no need to push
to compete, or to know
the lack of sun and water

And would never grow.

in the deep, dark forest,
a pine cone lays,
just as it has
for many days.
unable to sprout,
to get any higher,
until the event of
a forest fire.
from the blistering heat
the seed is set free
to fight for the right

to become a tree.

Gorgeous! I loved it! The "fight for the right to become a tree" part was awesome. You're a really good poet!

Beautiful poem. So deep. It reminds me of growth from experiences. I could feel some passion towards the end. Thank you for sharing your work.
