A New Start

A New Start

A Poem by John Preston
"

Is it all in one's mind?

"

A wink could it be for me, so soon
Who could it be, why Anthea before noon
A photo I see of thee
Look behind thee, yes a tree
Full of life green you see
And what of you centre stage
A sweet smile, can be seen by a mile
Eye’s looking bright at me
I can’t press a button to refresh
You’re a flower in bloom
Do you see this bark all wrinkly hark
Yes Santa’s coming will he bring me thee
You may think I’m playing a lark
No never could I play with your heart
Is it possible two dine with wine
Could we ever both say be mine
I’m not a poet you may know it
However my eye’s tell me do try
We may like our looks
But where not in the same book
Have you seen my image
I’ve never eaten spinach
Me thinx your lovely and bubbly
Shall we make a start Ho’ jubbly
I’ve never seen de sphinx
Me thinx I’m not on your par
We don’t really live that far
Apart is in the mind, let’s find
That golf ball you lost it’s mine
Could we ever maybe never
Be on a green playing sweet
Evergreen all year round bound
By your love of nature, that’s
in Cape town weather so fine
Have you found the one
You have your Caddy
I’m also a Daddy.
