Penny

Penny

A Poem by John Preston
"

I could not think of any thing to write.

"

Will someone put a penny in
The flow as stopped run dry gone
Not banging my head just for my pen
A thought an idea something one says
I’ll come back again try again , no good

Well” we say it’s an off day " yea
Next , an on day, whatever next
No, no good just not coming sink
Maybe a walk, blow cobwebs away
O.K. it maybe sawdust instead, tis clean
But what the hack, I’ll exercise
Out of bed shower instead
Now a ringing in my ear, no ‘it’s the phone

Lay awake contemplate eyes open take a pen
Round and round in this head write it down
6.35a.m. this morn, aero plane is the norm
Sunny climbs of they fly, sunny outside
Sophistication what’s the difference my sun

All that trouble and strife
Luggage weight, don’t be late
Two hours early plane be cancelled
Disappointment growling waiting
Holiday relax enjoy chill out fallout
Are we there yet common language

Cost a fortune plus the rest
Always happy homeward bound
Start again journey home
How relaxing, holiday home.
