Doubt

Doubt

A Poem by preoccupied
"

It follows you relentlessly.

"

:

we have all felt it
something pulled off our safety blanket
filling us with uncertainty, making us an paranoiac
this thing oozing icy black

specks of light grow darker
your ship can't find harbor
unpack the theories
all the possible lies it carries

your lungs can't find fresh air
only the kind that fills you with despair
all hope is fleeting
everything you were needing

hands can only grasp the night
your deepening thoughts close in tight
what was wrong or right, nothing tells
the mind clammily swells

you're growing too comfortable with this thought
the one that was victoriously brought
comfort bringing worry
your original thoughts scurry

what to do now, your mind searches
any trying seems worthless
for now you must follow
the doubt, it's hard to swallow
