Jealousy

Jealousy

A Poem by prema

Are you jealous ? someone once asked
Though in lighter vein, I got serious
My face did cheat ? I feared
At times face reflects ,inner feelings.

My mother's mom was an expert
To extort that feeling in me
The card she played was my elder sis
To see that age old sibling rivalry.

She brought home often , sweetmeat
And cut the long and short of it
Longer for the elder, shorter for the younger
Her logic was enough to make me red with rage.

Later when we grew up
Realization dawned on me
Each one is unique in one' own way
For no two are equal ,Oh! my wise old granny.

A thriving mind can never be content
Jealousy sprouts as and when
Suppression makes it worse
Wisdom lies in outgrowing!
