Sim CardA Story by Praveen Kumar A.X.Aron looked puzzled. “Can you believe my luck. Look at this”, he said and showed me his mobile. “7200 rupees balance!!!!!”. I was shouting. “This is my lucky day”, he said and tried calling to my mobile. “Check the number Hart”. “944****234″ “Fancy number too. Thank you god.”, Aron was exclaiming. I started becoming restless. This has to be wrong thing. I tried arguing with Aron, asking him to throw the Sim away. “No way, Hart” I reasoned with him saying “Why does anyone want to throw a Sim Card with such large amount as balance”
“Maybe some big shot lost his phone or something. “ I was worried. But whats the big deal. We found a Sim card lying in the road and it had a huge balance. Why am i so uncomfortable with these facts?
*** It was 11 and still no sign of Aron. My roommates convinced that he may have gone to his hometown. “He has no sense at all. Why can't he just give us a call?”, i said. “I tried for his number it says, ‘Number doesn't exist’”, a roommate said. Just then i remembered about the Sim card. “Let me call him”, i said. I could hear the phone ringing. No response.
*** 3:45 AM I was woken by some chatter near my window. I saw nothing but complete darkness. Suddenly four or five guys stormed into the room. The last thing i saw was a flash of light at my face.
*** 6:30…… “Five Innocent Students killed in a Mafia hunt. Police say they acted on a Sim Card lead”, said the Reporter. © 2012 Praveen Kumar A.X.Reviews
