HUMANITY

HUMANITY

A Poem by Prateeksha Khot
"

we seem to have forgotten what being human is actually about...

"

India, my country :

The most unique of all nations;

is a land of worshipers,

worshiping his creations.

We respect every object

whether living or dead,

'Worship even the tiniest of his creations'

in our Holy Books it is said.

So the COW is our 'MOTHER',

and TULSI is pious,

the EARTH is holy;

Worshiping them makes us joyous.

Even if we by mistake

trod on a book or paper

' Touch it to your forehead' , we are told,

If not then

we are showing 'disrespect'

the God's wrath we must behold.

How then have we forgotten

His most prized possession,

How can we then disrespect

His most beloved creation.

Isn't man God's greatest gift

which bejewels this earth ?

Aren't we all really lucky

to have had this birth?

Let us show the same love and respect

which we show to the inanimate.

Let us 'LIVE AND LET LIVE'

and a peaceful world create.

Let us lay the path of humanity

on which everyone must trod,

because we must remember that :

SERVICE TO MAN IS SERVICE TO GOD.

Really good poem! This poem can help restore humanity. 'Tis true, we worship the inanimate, take more care of it than our fellow companions, compassion is the need of the hour. This poem also underlines the truth, the science behind all religions. Religions weren't made for us to know that there is a supernatural entity in the world that we have to bow before. religions were created to make mankind more humane. I would like to end my review by quoting the great mahatma...
"the day the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."
Great Poem. really enjoyed the read.

Through him we have the gift of love.

We must share our love to all.

Hi there, Prateekksha,
I liked it but a different format or presentation would make it sound more like a poem also I noted "On which everyone must 'trod' " Trod is past sentence while Tred is present and future sentence...check it out in a Oxford English dictionary ...I hope I am not 'treading' on your toes with this comment. I would welcome your creative eye and critique on my work when you are not busy making the world a beautiful place...

I look forward to your comments...warning my work is unusual in context just keep a open mind...and read it aloud!

"SERVICE TO MAN IS SERVICE TO GOD"... So true. It's not only in India, it's here in America too. They call it materialism. Not really in the same context as your situation, but people worship objects over here, too, and forget to show proper love and compassion for each other.

nice thoughts brought out through this write of yours dear .. this is the greatest paradox that men revere god whom they have never seen and despise their fellow beings ..

india !! i won't like to divulge further cause you seem to be a patriotic person but i consider this land far from being perfect . there are so many vices that are rampant and a few honest souls like us can't do much .
