sudden shipwrecked

sudden shipwrecked

A Story by Prashita Saxena

Its been three years and i can still smell the ocean's fresh air. Mediterranean was the ship of dreams. I have been waiting for this moment for so many years, I was full of excitement. Before I entered the cruise, it seemed like 100 feet longer and far more luxurious. Anxiously I entered the cruise the guards were so welcoming and I was everything a well-brought up girl should be, but inside I was screaming . The cruise was so big that my eyes couldn't see it at once.
Within a minute, when I didn't even put my bags down the cruise's engine started and felt like land slipped away from my feet. The journey was way too long as it was from India to United States Of America. I traveled along with my best friend. By the afternoon we were sailing west from the coast of Mumbai, leaving the land behind, with nothing out ahead of us but ocean. The deck was AMAZING and by amazing I really mean it, it had everything a passenger needs. Ice cream, cold drinks, food items...everything, the cruise was with each and every comfort I guess that is why it was called the ship of dreams. Soon I entered my room, it was again awesome. Me and my friend shared the same room. Everything was perfect on the cruise. Everybody was busy with their own works but nobody knew that their lives were in danger, neither did i know.
Me and my friend were chatting around at the top most part of the deck, it was a full moon night but nobody was able to see the moon, soon it started raining and we were enjoying the rain. The view from the top most part of the cruise was really very attractive, it was shining bright like a diamond but no one had seen the storm coming. The cruise seemed unbalanced, I heard the sound of thunder, we could also see the lightning now. We were so afraid, it was one of the worst phase of my life, I was holding my most valuable gift given by mo mother. It suddenly fell down, on the lower deck. I went all the way down to grab it and at that very time everything turned dark, all lights were off and the cruise started sinking from its very back portion. My friend was still at the top most part of the cruise I was really worried. Thank god the cruise had life boats but wait, what not enough for all its passengers. My friend, she somehow managed to come down, everyone was in fear of losing their dear ones in that crowd, I hugged her tightly as if it was for the last time.
we were soon given the life jackets, but just by wearing life jackets didn't mean that the danger was gone. We sat on a life boat and waited for it to sail down. The boat was so slippery that I went overboard, the last voice I could remember was of my best friend and she was only shouting my name. Suddenly everything went black, I couldn't feel anything, i was numb and everything was quiet, I thought I was dead but the next day I found myself in a hospital. My best friend was right in front of my eyes. It was neither India not America, it was an island, known as St. Lucia. We were brought back to India I felt so relaxed it see my family again. During my journey once i thought I  wouldn't be able to see my family again but my experience was awesome as well as dangerous, I could have died but, I would never forget this experience, every in my lifetime.
