The Doom Sayer's Song (Prologue)

The Doom Sayer's Song (Prologue)

A Poem by Patrick Westerhaus

She is a shadow unstuck,

A black mass on her way

     to Black Mass

Underneath that veil

is God-only-knows-what,

     and he ain't talkin

She clutches the unsexy

Christ as if the cruciform

corpse were her own

     dying child

And if you pass her on

the street and listen

real close, you'll hear

her hiss the date of the

     end of the world
