The Lure of the Vagabond

The Lure of the Vagabond

A Poem by Poetic Nuance

I am kept awake by incessant dreams
Of getting lost in the crowded self,
The lure of the vagabond bursting through seams,
Dragging me back to plans long shelved

Of running through florid, vibrant vales
Lost among its scented air
And yet this sense of beauty pales
To that moment of little care

To lose the ego of the mind
In the cold embrace of the mountain stream
To be with the Universe, entwined
And warm the skin in the day star's gleam

To wander free, no scare, no dares
Away from this pitiful world,
Forever distant from spiteful glares
And toxic words, all too often hurled

Break free from this virulence of man
And escape from the private hell,
That greedy, centered men have spawn
On plebeians waiting the unsuspecting knell

The more I see, the more I long
The fruition of this master plan
When time is ripe, just run along
All guilt & burden forever shorn,

And walk those paths that feet may lead
Spirits soaring, like a bird in flight
And finally at eternal rest may yield,
A weightless soul of brilliant light

That final journey, followed by none
Into that endless flow of time
Never lonely, in the flow, alone
Into that consciousness, sublime...

Author's Note

Poetic Nuance
The lure, the dream of a spiritual journey, the last ever, away from this world. Alone in the wild, but never lonely. And finding that everlasting peace. Forever.

Thank you so much. Glad you like it. :)
I was lucky. Two brothers who committed suicide showed me. I had lived the wrong life. Money and big house mean nothing when you are alone.

I quit my job and free-climbed, traveled and lived. I suicide boarded the big storms and study herbal medical with the witches and the Apaches. The lines above are true. Fly with the hawks and the eagle. Dance in the forest with the bear and wolves. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
