The Order of Chaos

The Order of Chaos

A Poem by Poetic Nuance

Chaos is the nature of the universe,
And into chaos will it finally descend,
The illusion of order is but a pretense,
That our imperfect senses cannot comprehend.

Consciousness, the driving force of seeming order,
That is all-pervading & causes things to manifest,
It is ego that clouds this clear vision of disorder,
Making the search for order, a long, unending quest.

Most human is this distinctive failing,
Seeking control over everything perceived,
Tragic has been this mankind's ailing,
For only division has it truly achieved.

But what seems as chaos is only confusion,
It is indeed the highest order of the universe,
And initial conditions & random inclusion,
Is what governs nature's inherent purpose.

And hence the ancient custom of man,
To begin everything with positive intention,
For even the slightest misreckoning can,
Eventually change the intended conclusion.

Author's Note

Poetic Nuance
The poem contains a combination of Ancient Philosophy, The Chaos Theory & even Quantum Physics. It is a personal belief that ancient philosophy and their practices were actually deep rooted in a scientific knowledge that understood the functioning of the Universe much more intricately than modern science gives them credit for.

Chaos vs Order is an old concept, but what we understand as chaos is just one side of one of the forces of life. Neither chaos or order can be good or bad, but having just one is always unpleasant.
Having said that, you put some good points in here. You showed the purpose of order and the inevitability of chaos, many sides of these two opposites being described as they are seen.
I don't really like poems. Too ordered. You can't create with order, you can only build, and the difference between these two is always seen.
Kind of ironic or probably quite fitting for you to show that in a poem.

I've written a sample essay on chaos and order, and I agree somewhat with this.

And/Or that order is simply chaos maintained, evolved.. That the universe was even based on an agent of chaos (The Big Bang).

Anyway, great piece.

Many creation stories speak of chaos before order. I always muse about chaos theory and its nonlinear dynamics and that seemingly random events are actually predictable from simple deterministic equations; yet there is an underlying order amid the chaos. Your poem touches on this and I like "what seems as chaos is only confusion". Your final stanza exposes the delicate balance and how easy it is to upset. Smooth rhyme throughout and the whole poem makes for an interesting read. Penny
