Love at First Sight

Love at First Sight

A Poem by Poetic Nuance
"

That moment of euphoria when the first rush of love hits the heart.

"

Was it the whiff of your perfume,
As you laughingly passed me?
Or the twinkle in your eye,
As you fleetingly looked at me?

Was in the tinkling of your voice,
And your smile without a care?
Was it your innate playfulness,
As you tucked an erring lock of hair?

Was it the curve of your graceful neck,
As you turned to look at me again?
Or the sly smile playing on your lips,
Raising hope, that mind can't seem to rein?

Is this what it means to fall in love?
Being slave to a moment of joy, when eyes meet?
Have mercy on me, dear heavens above
Feels like running towards doom, with grateful feet.

Author's Note

Poetic Nuance
The whole poem is about the first feeling of love. Except the last line which is intended as a dash of humour. There is almost like a sense of fatality in that first burst of love, like you are rushing headlong into something that you have absolutely no control of and yet you don't want it to stop. And that is the truth, the knowledge of which comes from experience. Alas! Too late. :D

I do believe in love at first sight. Sad part rarely happens. Love needs perfect timing, two people wanting the same things and are free. I like your description. The gentle and beautiful flow of lines make the dream of falling in love with eye contact and kind touch of hello. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.
