RainA Poem by Poetic NuanceNote: (2nd para) 'Forebear' & 'Her' refers to Mother Earth. Green in nature symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness & fertility but in the mind it means ambition, greed, sickness, cowardice, jealousy. In the land battered by the relentless, unforgiving Sun, As the intricate threads of life are about to come undone,
You shower your heavenly mercy against the searing, tyrannical reign, A drop at first, unsure, until it falls again, Ah, Rain! Are they tears of joy or beads of pain? The steady patter of your music, gladdens the forebear, Your life giving water, perfumes the surrounding air, You are the lifeblood that flows through her many a vein, Your return relieves the mother, of her poisonous bane, Ah, Rain! Are they tears of joy or beads of pain? I often watch your beauty from the silence of my window, The occasional flashes of brilliance, only adds to the crescendo, Your coming is a a joyful affair, and a new strength do I gain, You bring a change so welcome, cleansing everything that seems profane, Ah, Rain! Are they tears of joy or beads of pain? Dampened by your love, my mood always gets inflamed, I dance to your falling rhythm, as innocence seemingly gets reclaimed, Do your drops purify the Soul, as you give life to the Plain? And the hues of green that you paint, do you wash the ones that minds contain? Ah, Rain! Are they tears of joy or beads of pain? © 2014 Poetic Nuance |
