To: The Girl I Never Knew

This poem is about a girl who attended the same school as me. She died from overdosing on drugs. I never knew the girl personally but I sometimes wish I could have died in her stead.

The girl I never knew

I have heard your name

I have felt your pain

I feel we are somewhat similar, but you didn’t escape from the trap like I have

You have hurt many of those around you

Your family

Your friends

And the girl you never knew

But are you better now?

I hope so.

I hope you are not in pain and the rain has cleared.

Sometimes, I think I could've saved you or switched places with you in some way

But I know that would be close to impossible

and that was in the past. I hope you are enjoying another life

One better than the one you were previously living
