Objectivity

Objectivity

A Poem by Lucia Morgan

I don't want to be amusing.
A toy;
Doll Faced.
All the boys want to play.
I don't want to be a mirror,
So you can see yourself the way you want to,
So handsome,
So handsome.
All the girls stare.
And then I'm scared,
Because,
How valuable would we be,
If our bodies turned to plastic?
And,
Our souls,
Like rubber tires,
Bumped up against each other ceaselessly
Never to merge.
What then?
Would you love me?

Wow...simply wow. An amazing poem. There's such a great rhythm to it. For some reason I couldn't help but keep reading "All the girls stare". That piece kept popping out at me. Evocative, beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this.
