The World OrchestraA Story by DandelionA first in musical history: The World Orchestra! The grand concert hall was
overcrowded with enthusiastic spectators waiting impatiently for the concert to
begin. That night, it was a first in musical history. People from all around
the globe gathered together to assist to this incredible event: the first
concert of the World Orchestra. As a matter of fact, the best musicians from
diverse countries were chosen to play together interlacing their different
races, languages, and cultures.
The lights gently dimmed
and the flaming curtains opened to reveal a stage full of small chairs and
music stands illuminated by bright spotlights. Dressed in formal black, the
performers elegantly walked on stage making a remarkable entrance to their
respective seats. Warming up their instruments like they did countless times in
their lives, it created a consonant atmosphere. Suddenly, they stood up to
welcome an experienced gray-haired man wearing a tuxedo and a baton in his
hand: The maestro. Bowing to the audience, loud hand claps filled the entire
room. Turning face to the orchestra, he lifted his arms standing still as a
statue. With eye-contact and a deep breath, the music started.
As an introduction, the
woodwinds and the strings married to a crying cello, creating a magical
start-off. The spectator’s hearts were captured and the performer’s minds
released to the extent of creativity. The conductor slowly moved in a flawless
dance releasing an emotion to each measure. Unexpectedly, the screams of the
trumpets announced a new story to be told. The maestro slashed the air
frantically from a warm melody to a powerful crescendo.
At the very end of the
piece, the notes joined together in a triumphal finale while the entire
audience held their breaths. A well deserved standing ovation filled with
acclamations was awarded to the performers. In sync, they stood up for a final
bow. And that night, they proved that despite the differences between one
another, music is an international language that can be comprehended everywhere
on Earth. © 2014 DandelionAuthor's Note
