BLOCK CAPITOLS IN A BLACK PRINT

A Poem by porkchops

Am I the name as it appears on the certification of life

a name that was chosen and given to me

that same name that is used and abused by the powers that be

"block capitols in a black print".


Am I that person on the passport photo

an image taken in a moment in time

no smile, dead eyed, surrounded by white

 

Am I the age of the years that have passed

with my history of experience - good times and bad

the memories of roads travelled

of each new horizon crossed.

 

each new day I awake the same

but each night I retire a different person.
