White Beauty

White Beauty

A Poem by Shannon
"

About a swan I saw get hit by a car a few weeks ago. It broke my heart.

"
Our meeting was sudden and brief
Her pain stricken eyes looked deep into my soul
Feathers whiter then the winters past snow
A wing span as wide as my pride
She never saw the gliding monster coming
The coward struck her down from behind
I heard my soothing words that she took with a sigh
She knew they were lies, as did I.
Don’t worry your last companions will protect you
To move you out of any danger that might come again.
Such a precious creature of light, I loved you in that short moment.

Such a beautiful and emotional poem. It's very well written and it's very descriptive. I love the last line, so much is said in that one line. It's a brilliant poem and a very sad one. How cruel for that pure beauty to face death in that horrible way, her once white feathers painted red...

This is beautiful and describes a scene that you have portrayed quite nicely. I actually quite enjoyed the feeling and rhythm of this poem. Nicely done!
