The Harlequins Secrets

The Harlequins Secrets

A Poem by Shannon
"

The first poem of a photo series I'm eventually doing.

"

The harlequins dress hangs with our desires.

Our thoughts and things we have wished to say.

Her face is hidden but becomes whatever we want.

The secrets we tell lie safe within her chest of hearts.

We speak to something we do not understand

Telling her things no one else will care to hear.

It is not in her nature to ever tell our secrets

Even if she could her mouth does not open.

She too holds onto things that she cannot say.

This tree of strings had started with her first silence.

sort of a confessional :). the last line is absolutely brilliant.

Mysterious and open to multiple interpretations, whether personal or symbolic of the silences that masks terrible things... definitely rings with a haunting quality...

Nice. I'd like to see the photo that goes with this.
"Her face is hidden but becomes whatever we want.
The secrets we tell lie safe within her chest of hearts."
