My Heart Yearns For You

My Heart Yearns For You

A Poem by Kayla

I press my hands against my ears,
in hopes that your voice will disappear
It used to be the background,
since when did it become lead?

I suppress my pent-up tears
in hopes that they'll drain, not because of you.
I know you don't feel like I do,
and I promised myself I wouldn't get this way
  but here I am
not being able to breathe until I hear from you,
my heart racing when I just think of you,
my mind helplessly wondering, "What if."

I'm distracted from everything I do,
I can't tune my mind in.

My heart yearns for you.
