Common Sense

Common Sense

A Poem by Kayla

Rain is pounding on the ground everywhere
But somehow it is all missing me
I feel like I don't deserve to be sheltered like this.
What have I done to deserve it?
It doesn't matter-- it's still avoiding me-- I'm still dry.

There is no sunlight anywhere
Only gray skies and dark clouds
And of course, the rain--
the rain that won't touch me.

As I sit and ponder why it's happening,
I realize that I haven't moved at all.
Then I took a step out from under the roof
and the rain began to fall
