Unexpected Chapter 34

Unexpected Chapter 34

A Chapter by Julie Beth

Dennis woke up multiple times since midnight. Once was to change his diaper, the other three was for no apparent reason at all. After that, I thought I could finally get some sleep, I was wrong. At five thirty in the morning, Dennis started crying again. I swore under my breath and was about to get up, when Carson pulled me back down.

"I'll get him." His tired raspy voice said. "I have to get up anyways." I groaned as Carson got out of bed and went to go get Dennis.

"Thank you." I mumbled as I rolled back over and pulled the sheets up to my shoulders, then went back to sleep.

I woke up around eight. When I opened my eyes, Dennis was laying next to me. Carson changed him into a short sleeved one piece with a lion on it. Dennis was awake, but he wasn't crying. He was laying there staring at the ceiling and kicking his legs. I chuckled, which made him look at me.

"Good morning." I said as I tickled his tummy. He looked over at me as he tried to stick his hand in his mouth. I puffed out my cheeks and he took his hand out of his mouth and touched my face. "Are you hungry?" I asked him for his response, he blew little bubbles of spit. I rolled my eyes and got out of bed. I quickly tied up my hair in a high pony tail and changed into sweat pants and a crappy tank top.

When I picked up Dennis, I noticed that she smelled really good, Carson must have given him before he went to school. I walked into the kitchen and saw a bottle of formula on the table. Under it was a note from Carson.

Maddy,

Gave Dennis a bath, changed him and

I tired to feel him, but he didn't want

The formula. Love you be back soon

Carson.

I sighed and looked down at Dennis. "You don't want the formula do you?" Dennis kept looking at me with his big eyes. I sighed and walked into the living room only to find Xavier on the couch.

"I thought you were on bed rest?" I said as he looked up at me, then back at the TV.

"Yeah, well staying in bed with no TV for two weeks isn't working out for me." Xavier replied watching his show. I nodded my head and picked up the small blanket on the couch.

"Where are you going?" Xavier asked as I started to walk out of the room. I turned around, he sounded like he was panicking

"I was going to go feed Dennis." I said as I took a step back unsure of what to do. I felt bad for leaving Xavier alone, but Dennis really needed to be fed.

"Feed him in here." Xavier stated as if it was that simple. I looked down at the grounded and blushed.

"I'm not feeding him with a bottle." I mumbled just loud enough for him to hear me. Xavier scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"You have a blanket, I won't look, promise. Plus, I have a girlfriend." Xavier was literally begging me. I sighed and rolled my eyes.

"Alright, I'll be back in a second." I replied as I went into Carson's room so I didn't have to start this in front of Xavier. I walked back into the living room and slowly sat down on the couch. I have no idea what the hell Xavier was watching, but it looked stupid.

"So," Xavier hesitated, without looking away from the TV, and then blurted out. "Are you and Carson having sex again?" I snapped my head in his direction and glared at him.

"NO. Why the hell would you ask that? Why the hell would you even think we would do that with Dennis in the same room?" I demanded. I loved Xavier, but he was so freaking nosy.

"I went to get a glass of water at one in the morning, and the sounds coming from your room aren't sounds you make in your sleep. Not to mention that huge hickey you got on your neck." My eyes widened as I shift Dennis into on arm. Then my free hand flew up to cover my hickey. Xavier smirked his evil smirk, "I mean, you're practically showing it off. With your hair up that high in a pony tail, I have a clear view. Damn, that hickey must have hurt afterwards." I rolled my eyes, got off the couch, and stormed out of the room. When I entered Carson's room, I slammed the door as loud as I could, but instantly regretted it.

Dennis started screaming once I slammed the door. I cursed under my breath. I put Dennis down in his crib, which only made him scream more. I threw the blanket on the floor, and put my shirt on right. I looked down at Dennis who was wailing. I rolled my eyes and picked him up trying to calm him down.

I was about to go put him in the sink, when the chorus  Astronaut, by Simple Plan started playing. At first, I was confuse. Then I realized my phone was ringing. I didn't look at the caller ID, I was hoping it was my mom so I just answered it.

"Hello?" I said into the receiver.

"I'm getting a lawyer, and I’m coming to get my son." My father's harsh voice rang through the phone. My legs when weak at the sound of his voice.

"There is no way in hell I am letting you near my baby." I responded trying to sound strong, but I was scared as hell.

"Maddy, I know you won't let me. I am your father, if you don't listen to what I say, you will be grounded. I am coming down there, and I am getting my son. You can either hand him over, and I can use my force and hurt you, either way, I’m coming to get him." I put Dennis down on the bed, he was still screaming. I slowly say down on the ground, I felt so dizzy, like I was going to pass out. I started to cry.

"NO!" I shouted into the phone. The door to Carson's bedroom opened and Xavier walked in. He looked at me, then at Dennis.

"Maddy, this isn't up for negotiation, if you want to go to court, I will take you to court."

"You'll lose." I sobbed "The second they find out what you did to me, they'll give me full custody." Xavier took Dennis in the hand that wasn't broken and bounced him up and down making him stop cry. Then he looked to me. Is that your father? Xavier mouthed. I couldn't answer as I could do was sob as my dad's haunting voice rang through the phone.

"Maddy, I will say he's my grandson. I am a well known lawyer, you are a teenager who got knocked up, and they will favor me." I shook my head and Xavier grabbed the phone from me.

"Listen you son of a b***h," Xavier used his threatening voice. He was pissed off beyond belief. "If you call Maddy, try to see Maddy, have any communication with Maddy, I will call the cops. If you try to touch Dennis, take him away from Maddy, or go anywhere near him, I will f*****g kill you!" Xavier shouted into the phone, then hung up before my dad could respond.

I put my head in my hands and sobbed as Xavier sat down next to me. Dennis started crying again. I looked up and took him from Xavier. He stopped crying as I rocked him in my arms. Xavier wrapped his good arm around me and kissed my forehead.

"Shh, it’s okay Maddy." Xavier said trying to calm me down.

"No it's not, he s-s-aid he was g-g-going to come here a-a-and take D-d-den-nis." I sobbed into Xavier. "We have to lock the house Xavier. Every window and door. I w-w-on't let him take my baby." Xavier took Dennis from me and said,

"Go lock all the doors and windows. When you're done, come in the kitchen." Xavier said as he got up and Carried Dennis out of the room. I quickly ran around the house locking each window and shutting the shades to them so my dad couldn't watch us. Then I locked the back door, garage door, and the front door. I knew that Carson had a key on him.

I walked into the kitchen and found Xavier waiting for me. He handed me a glass of water and a little pink pill.

"What's this?" I asked picking it up. I looked up at Xavier and he was staring back at me.

"It's a pill the doctors gave me to help me relax, and then drift off to sleep. It’s not a heavy dosage, but I think you need it. I'll watch Dennis. You need to relax Maddy, this really isn't good for you."

"I don't know..." I replied examining the little pill.

"Maddy, you need to be at full strength taking care of this guy. To do that, you need to relax and get some sleep, I’m serious I can take care of him. Trust me." I looked up at Xavier then popped the pill in my mouth and downed it with some water.

"I don't want to sleep in my room. I'll be all alone...and I’m scared." I confessed. The last thing I wanted was to be alone right now.

"Dennis and I will stay in there with you. We'll protect you." Xavier turned to Dennis and bounced hi a bit as he said in his baby voice. "We'll take care of your mommy won't we. Yeah." I rolled my eyes as the three of us went into Carson's room. "I think Dennis needs a nap too." Xavier said as I got under the covers. I held out my arms and Xavier gave me Dennis. I was starting to feel the effects of the pill, I was surprised they worked so fast. I placed Dennis next to me on top of the sheet. That way if he woke up, Xavier could easily grab him. Xavier pulled up the Chair from Carson's desk and put it next to the bed, close to Dennis. That as the last thing I saw when I drifted off to sleep.

Carson was pulling his shirt over his head when he felt his phone go off. He took it out of his pocket and saw it was a text from Xavier.

Dude, u need to come home, like NOW. Maddy is freaking out and put the whole house on lock down. Make sure you lock the front door when you come in.

"Crap." Carson muttered under his breath. He took his keys out of his gym locker and put his shoes back on. Then he grabbed his backpack and headed for the main office. He told the receptionist that he had a family emergency, which wasn't exactly a lie, and she gave him a pass.

Carson got in the rental car and drove home. He was impatiently banging his hand on the steering wheel as he opened the garage, then shut it when he parked the car. Carson went to go open the door, but it was locked. Carson swore under his breath as he searched for his keys.

When he got inside he locked the door just like he was told to. When Carson turned around, he realized how dark it was. Every window was locked and had its shades drawn.

"What the hell." Carson could see what Xavier meant by having the whole house on lock down. Carson walked down the hallway and opened the door to his bedroom, where he found Xavier holding Dennis in the air. Xavier had his cheeks puffed out like one of those puffer fish. Dennis was looking at Xavier with wide eyes and was pointing at him.

"Dude, what the hell is going on?" Carson asked as he closed the door to his room. He walked in and saw Maddy fast asleep on his bed, under the covers. Xavier lowered Dennis into his lap. When he did, Dennis started to squirm as he was looking at Carson.

"Carson, the kid wants you." Xavier held Dennis towards Carson. Carson took Dennis and kissed him on the forehead.

"What the hell is going on." Carson repeated himself in a more stern voice. Xavier sighed and said,

"If I’m going to tell you, then put Dennis on the bed. I don't want you to get pissed off and forget you're holding him." Carson rolled his eyes and put Dennis on the bed next to Maddy. Dennis was on his stomach and kicking his arms and feet as if he was trying to move.

"Alright well," Xavier started. "Maddy and I were in the living room, and I made fun of her hickey, which is huge by the way, and she got pissed off, went  into your room, and slammed the door. Of course that made Dennis cry-" Carson cut Xavier off.

"First off, you're an a*s for making fun of her because I know that you've given hickey's a hell lot bigger to girls you just met. Secondly, I don't need a play by play, get to the point."

"I know I was an a*s, but I was getting to the point. After a few minutes, Dennis didn't stop crying, it got louder, then I heard Maddy scream at someone. I went into the room and found her on the phone, with her dad. Maddy was sobbing like hell so I took the phone and threatened the b*****d." Xavier paused and sighed then he looked up at Carson. "He said he was going to come down here and kidnap Dennis. That's why Maddy locked everything and drew the shades on all the windows. I gave her the pill the doctors gave me. The one that relaxes you and helps you sleep. I'm in here because she didn't want to be alone, she's really scared Carson." Carson looked over at Maddy, and sighed.

"I'll talk to her when she wakes up, you can go to bed or something. You have bags under your eyes." Carson told Xavier. Xavier wasn't going to argue because he was tired, Dennis was a handful even though he only watched him for an hour.
Once Xavier left the room, and shut the door, Carson sat down on the bed, and pulled out his homework. He put on his glasses and glances over at Dennis, who was totally focused on Maddy. Carson smiled a bit and rolled his eyes. He wanted more than anything for that to be his son.

I opened my eyes and saw Dennis staring right back at me. I smiled and rolled onto my back. Then I picked him up and put him on my tummy. I looked over and saw Carson sitting on the bed, with his glasses on, and totally engrossed in his homework. I craned my neck to see the clock, it was only noon.

"What are you doing home?" I asked. Carson turned and looked at me. He pushed his homework off the bed and it crashed to the floor. Then he laid down so he was at eye level with me.

"Xavier texted me, he said that we went on lock down. When I got here, he told me everything." Carson ran his hand down my face. "Maddy, we need to do something about your dad. He's not going to give up." A tear ran down my face... I was so scared.

"When my mom visited me in the hospital, I talked to her about it. She said I could get a restraining order and risk him breaking it, or I could try go to court and try to get him arrested... I told her I’d think about it." I whispered. I know what my answer is now.

"What do you want to do?" Carson asked.

"I want him to go to jail, then I want a restraining order for when he gets out."

I hate her father with a burning passion. If I was her I would want the same thing. Dennis doesn't need a terrible person like that as a father. I wish Carson was the babies father to. The baby would be so much better off. Can't wait to read on. Thanks for sharing.
