Unexpected Chapter 24A Chapter by Julie Beth
The sun shone brightly in my face as I rolled over with a groan. I can't believe the weekend with my grandpa flew by so fast. Before I knew it Carson picked me up and I was back in school on Monday. I felt the bed shift as I assumed Carson got out of bed to take a shower. I figured I wouldn't get up until the alarm clock went off, I was too tired to get up and do my hair. Right now, I could walk into school in what I’m wearing right now. Although I don't think that will go over well with the teachers since my stomach is hanging out of my tank top because it's too round. I drifted off back to sleep, but not long after that, Carson came in and nudged me away. "Maddy," Carson whispered in my ear before he kissed my forehead. I groaned and stretched out. Something smelt really good. "What." I mumbled as I slowly opened my eyes. Everything was blurry and strangely bright. Usually the sun was just rising when I get up for school. Then I looked over at the clock which said 8:38 am. "Crap, Carson we're late!" I said as I started to get up but Carson pushed me back down. "We're not going to school Maddy." Carson said with a smile on his face. Either he was insane, or I am oblivious. I looked over at the nightstand where there was a tray that had all of my favorite breakfast foods on it, alone with a red rose. "What's going on?" I asked a bit on the confused side. "Why aren't we going to school?" Carson looked at me like I was crazy. Was I missing something important? "Do you know what today is, Maddy?" Carson asked. He was excited, but I was still clueless. "Honestly Carson, I lost track of the date a while back..." then I stopped and though for a minute.”Oh my god! Please don't tell me I forgot our anniversary." Carson laughed and shook his head. "Sorry Maddy, you're a few months early on that one." I let sighed in relief. I know I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I forgot that. "Wait, so what is the date today then?" "It's March 18 baby." Carson said as the door slammed open. Xavier ran in and popped one of those cheep confetti canons that you can get at I party. "HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY MADDY!!!" Xavier shouted as he ran over and hugged me. I couldn't help but laugh, Xavier was such a two year old sometimes. "Do you feel loved yet?!?!" Xavier asked me no longer shouting. "Yes, I feel very loved." I said with a big smile on my face. I looked up at Carson, who was staring back at me with his amazing eyes that I love so much. "Xavier, can you let go of me?" I asked without taking my eyes off Carson. Xavier caught on really fast and instantly let go of me. "So, I’m going to go take a shower while you guys do what you guys do." Xavier said a bit awkwardly as he inched towards the door. Once he shut the door, Carson pulled me into his lap. "Hi." I smiled as I pushed the hair out of my face. Carson shook his head. "Really, hi, that's the best you can do?" Carson leaned in and kissed me deeply before I could even respond. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he pulled me closer. I realized that this would probably be a lot easier if I hadn't had to sit sideways because I’m pregnant. "Happy Birthday baby." Carson whispered against my lips when we pulled apart. I rested my head on his shoulder. I can't believe how happy I am right now, I feel like I won the lottery. I don't know what I would do without Carson, and I don't want to find out. "Do you want breakfast?" Carson asked pulling me away from my thoughts. I looked over at the tray. It had apple juice, chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and home fries. I was hungry, but it could wait. "Nooo." I complained. "I wanna kiss you more." Carson laughed as he gave me a quick peck on the cheek. I glared at him. "You're a jerk. You shouldn't denie me a kiss on my 16th birthday, it's not right." "You didn't even know it was your birthday." Carson retorted as he slid me off his lap and back on the bed. I sighed knowing he wouldn't kiss me again until after I eat breakfast. "Fine, I’ll eat breakfast, but then I demand 16 more kisses." I replied Carson put the tray down in front of me and I took a bite of the pancakes. God, I loved his cooking. "15 kisses, I already kissed you once." "Nah-ah, 16 one for good luck duh." I replied in my snottyspoiledrichgirl voice. Carson looked at me. "That rule only applies for candles." Carson retorted as he took a piece of my bacon. I love his cooking but he always makes too much. That's why I share with him. "It can apply for kisses too." I said in my sweet voice with my puppy dog eyes on. I smile because I know he can't resist my puppy dog eyes. Carson shakes his head. "Okay if that's what you want." He replied as he moved away the tray and pulled me back into a deep kiss.
Around lunch time, Carson and Xavier said they had to go run an errand. I didn't mind much; I was tired and needed a nap anyways. I went back into Carson room, still in his sweats and my white tank top. I've been too lazy to change out of it. I was about to lay down when I felt a sharp jab on the side of my stomach. "Oh, not again." I groaned. This baby was really getting me mad when it comes to kicking. He just goes off on a kicking streak and doesn't stop for minutes on end. I sighed and walked back into the kitchen. I opened the drawer near the phone and took out the black sharpie. I walked into the living room and sat on the couch. If this baby wanted me to know how he felt, the I will make sure the whole world knows how he feels. It was hard at work when the door opened. I didn't look up because I didn't want to be distracted when I was so close to finishing. I hear someone’s shoes skid to a stop. "Um...Maddy?" Xavier voice sounded confused. "What?" I replied without looking up from my belly. I heard Xavier sigh then he shouted, "Carson, your girlfriend went crazy." Which of course sent Carson running in the room. His shoes also skid to a stop when he saw me. "What the hell are you doing?" Carson asked as I added on the finishing detail to my stomach. I looked at it and smiled, proud of my work. Then I looked up at Carson and Xavier, they looked so lost, I couldn't help but laugh. "Well," Xavier said. "I always knew that women were crazy, I guess it just gets worse with pregnancies and old age." My head shot up. "I'm not old." I shouted. "If I’m old then that makes you ancient!" "Fine you're not old," Xavier replied. "You're crazy." He said as he stood over me looking at my work of art. "Why did you draw a pissed off dwarf on your stomach?" Xavier asked as he studied it. "It's not a dwarf! It's the baby! It kept kicking, like he was angry and only I knew he was angry and that's not fair. So I drew him so you would know he's angry." "Okay then." Xavier said as he nodded his head and walked away. Carson walked over to me. "You okay?" He asked me as he looked at my stomach. "Does it really look like a piss off dwarf?" I looked at him waiting for my answer as he studied it more. Then he leaned down and kissed my belly and then deeply on the lips. "Maddy I love you, but don't take up art as a profession." Carson said when he broke the kiss. I looked back down at my stomach, I though it looked good...
Later that night Carson made dinner. It was grilled chicken with cheese, bacon, and barbeque on it, and homemade mashed potatoes. I feel bad because Xavier learned that Carson can cook and that's just really bad. Xavier gave me his gift after we ate the cake Carson made. He gave me the iPod touch, which I was shocked he spent that much on me. Of course he shrugged off my thousand thank yous and gave me a big hug. After dinner I was back in Carson's room, sitting on the bed, with a blindfold over my eyes. "You know Carson," I said a bit loudly because I had no clue where he was. "You still owe me my good luck kiss." "You'll get it, don't worry." Carson replied sounding extremely close to me. I felt his hands on the back of my head taking the blindfold off. I looked around and everything looked the same. "Was that really necessary?" I asked still sitting on the bed looking up at him. "Yes, it was." Carson reached into the back pocket of his faded jeans and gave me a long black box. You know the one for necklaces or bracelets. I looked up at him and smiled as I opened the box. In it was a beautiful necklace with a diamond heart that had specks of my birthstone, aquamarine. I was speechless as Carson took it out of the box and put it around my neck. "Carson, this is beautiful." I said looking at Carson shocked. "That's not it."Carson said as he took a breath. "What more can there be?" I replied looking at the necklace "This is enough." I looked up at Carson and he was looking back at me. Then he reached in his pocket and took out a small black box and got down on one knee. "Maddy, I love you more than anything and I want more than anything than to be with you for the rest of your life. I don't mind if you want to give the baby up, or if you want to keep it. That's about what you want. I know what I want though, Maddy Chase, will you marry me?" Carson asked as he opened up the black box which showed a beautiful, yet very expensive ring. I had to remind myself how to breath and wipe the tears out of my eyes. "Yes, I’ll marry you." I responded with a huge smile on my face. Carson put the ring on my finger then leaned in and gave me my good luck kiss, which was the best kiss I have ever had. © 2011 Julie BethAuthor's Note
