FROM THE WINDOW OF A SPACESHIP

FROM THE WINDOW OF A SPACESHIP

A Poem by Mike Keenan

FROM THE WINDOW OF A SPACESHIP

For an astronaut, it never gets tedious -

ninety-two minutes, another sunrise

emerges in blackened space,

illuminating earth’s features,

mountains that command ascent,

capped in snow with green forests garnished below,

rivers snaking towards lakes and oceans

that surround continents,

while islands like connective dots

lead the way to each miracle

framed by glass.
