Things Already GoneA Chapter by Property of Kent
David sat in his chair impatiently spinning and watching the entrances closely. “Guess you’ve been expecting me then huh?” Nessa said, startling him from behind. “Just in time, there was a murder at the candy shop on Thirty Fourth street.” “Let’s go take a look around then”, she replied. David nodded. Nessa lead them to a squad car and got in behind the driver’s seat. “Woah woah woah, you aren’t authorized to drive this thing anymore!” David protested. “You want my help, you go by my rules, got it?” David nodded his head in defeat and Nessa hit the gas and blared the siren until they reached the shop. “What a mess!” , David exclaimed. The victim was a young adult. A blonde woman who had been stabbed severely. “What’s that in her hand?” , Nessa pointed out. David pried the object from the victim’s lifeless grasp. “It’s a piece of candy. The victim was a customer!” “Obviously one pretty sour with our murderer.” Nessa added. “I HAVE AN IDEA! If she was holding this piece of candy when she died then there has to be some memories on it. You could use your powers to help us find our killer!” “NO.” , Nessa protested, but she looked around at the desperate scene. “Please Nessa.” , David begged. Nessa rolled her eyes and took the piece of wrapped Carmel candy. She focused her energy, seeing a brown haired woman stab her from behind, then she felt the pain that brought her to her knees. Nessa tried hopelessly to hold in her shrieks of pain. Suddenly she stopped. “She doesn’t know what to do with the knife so she hides it behind the counter on one of the shelves and runs.” “Who?”, David asked. “Beatrice Foxworthy, the owner of this shop.” “Right well, let’s bring her into custody and verify the findings.” , David replied. An hour later, the victim had been autopsied and Nessa had been proven right. The killer had been brought into custody and was awaiting trial. “She killed the girl, Megan Lowe, because her husband had been stealing very appreciative glances and making comments.” “So why didn’t she just kill him?” David asked. “In her mind, getting rid of the problem was easier. She wanted to be adored by her husband again and did not want to think ill of him.” “So we got ourselves a crazy candy lady then huh?” “You’re funny Dave.” “Come on you know you gotta- wait, did you just call me Dave?” Nessa ignored him and answered his unfinished thought. “I don’t get too close to people who are already gone.” She replied.
