Better Off As Strangers

Better Off As Strangers

A Poem by poison&kerosene

It's a painful realization, The sad truth we ignore

We can't find it in us to show each other the door.

We want to function but all we can do is grieve

We love each other so much but not enough to leave.

It's a throbbing in our chest and the grip on our lungs.

The word "goodbye" is on the tip of our tongues.

We tear each other apart with our words carved like daggers

Our ego so badly beaten leaving our love left to stagger

But our stubbornness continues to put us in danger

We simply won't admit we were much better strangers.
