I don't know you anymore

I don't know you anymore

A Poem by poison&kerosene

I digest your promises like lead
weighed down by your flippancy
Apologies turn to ash when they leave your lips
When I choke on them I can almost taste truth
Placebo effect

My instinct is to run to you. Take shelter in you
But my legs are shaking and buckling. I can't breathe
I have no shelter to return to anymore
I am lost

Very good portrait of one in a quandary. We can almost feel the speaker's alternating frustration and dread.

When someone just totally lets us down, and we lose trust in that person...a shelter is definitely
