Strawberry Girl

Strawberry Girl

A Poem by poison&kerosene

I loved my friend and the adventures we would embark on

Mystical worlds spawned from children’s imagination

Golden curls bouncing with every stride, giggling together with sincerity

We stopped playing with dolls that day

The empires we built crumbled along with my imagination

Her dad filled his Juice box with liquor

He said my strawberry dress was his favorite

It used to be my favorite as well

This is chilling. I wasn't expecting the horror of the last 2 lines. I like your straightforward style though. You are skilled i see.

This was so powerful and short while using suggestion to carry the weight of the message. It's a great contrivance to convey the severity of the situation (a thing too terrible to be written) within the piece. Very good work.

You said a handful in the poem my dear friend. To steal the innocence of youth. I believe the greatest sin. Powerful words shared dear poet. You did bleed to paper.

I did enjoy and you welcome my dear friend.
Oh my God.....
possibly the most devastating thing I have ever read.
There is absolutely nothing worse than the forced corruption of innocence.

This is such a stunning powerful piece. The beginning conveying the innocence of youth and preciousness of early friendship. Than to have it shattered with its shocking end that destroys the first image altogether. It felt like being a bird flying free suddenly captured and thrown into a cage covered forever in shadow. The death of innocence. You wove a heartbreaking story in so few sentences of a poem. That is the power of art.
