Capsuled Calm

Capsuled Calm

A Poem by poison&kerosene

What my brain cannot make

A chemist can fake

I place it on my tongue

Sweet relief dissolves

Leaving in it's stead

A hollow sense of wellness

As someone whose been on several drugs over the years, someone whose still on anti psychotics and anti anxiety pills, I can relate, this is very well written, top score :)

We are what we take, whether pharmaceutical or not. surely? Our bodies - scalp to soles, absorb the best and worst of our taken or given diet. Your words might not quite agree with that, but there's almost an open=ended finish to your finely put words.

Well said. So true too, and in few words.

Your last line echoes in my mind. What you've said here is the American reality. We're the most medicated (nice word for "drugged") country in the world, and this is our legacy, a hollowness absent of real feelings. The artwork underscores what you've written here. A moving and sad poem but one well written.

and we know how hollow...just take away the pills and what are we left with....
chaos, anxiety, etc. etc.
have to take several meds myself...and often wonder if i stopped all of them cold turkey what i would become....probably not pretty....excellent write, brief but says so much...next to last line should be "its"
especially like the "chemist can fake" line.
