Forevermore to NevermoreA Poem by Emily Dickinson Jr.
I find myself in an empty room
The world is quiet and I have to go To leave this space forevermore To enter a place of nevermore With fields of green and purple Lilacs bouncing on the breast Of swirling winds and honey airs To Rainbow skys abound Forget the shackles of the here Unto Earth A prison I shan't bear Take unto me a holy air And as I rise into the sky Away from all that pass me by I fondly leave and do not cry For celestial arms welcome me By and by To Warmth of heart and settled mind Of which I've never known in kind Never again shall I go back To my world of past so black For in this world shall never be My keenly felt conformity My body in white walls abhorred Left behind while my spirit soared No binds on that, no puckered skin No rejection as it is forced in No games to play with white lab coats No pain rising through my throat Now as I lay in cloudy arms My eyes glassed over and my heartbeat gone My limbs are unstrapped and I know I've won As the fires take both on beyond © 2013 Emily Dickinson Jr.Reviews
