Blind Man Knows

Blind Man Knows

A Poem by Emily Dickinson Jr.

The thoughts I hear as I listen

Show me how deaf the others truly are

How can they lie to my face

Deface a fragile heart

Use fickle bandaging words so fake

Pretend, Seek to mend

All I've thought long broken

After all these fake loves of mine have taken

A vulture on an empty corpse

Don't they know?

They feed on empty carcass and bones

Can't they see what cruelties of thee

Has ladden on my begotten-self

Or do they truly, and surely stumble

With lenses pitch black

Do they stab as they struggle?

Do they harm as they hurt?

Do torturers double as torturees every other week?

If this is true, then it shows in deadened eyes

As they claim us, as those that are truly weak

The Blind man knows better.

I could be in the shadows like *makes whipping sound* and you'd never know cause I'm listening e_e lol jk that's creepy but no, listening opens up the world as much as seeing but then again it depends, great poem Emily, I really enjoyed it ^^

Beautifully written. You have written your poem on a very good topic.

There were some real places of greatness in this...certain lines and certain phrases that were just raw and real enough to be extirely satisfying. A few areas were a little stilted in terms of flow, stanzas 5, 6, 7--the flow gets a little difficult. Now, stanza 8 was an absolute masterpiece...beautifully done!

Seventh stanza, "Struggle" perhaps? Other than that, good job.

I do enjoy writing poems that get the mind whirling
Dear Emily

You entrapped me in this piece.

You caught me up in it.

I could go on about aspects of style or grammar or style, but these days I see little purpose. Why drown a piece of well structured imagination in the detail of the prosaic?

How you have provoked my thought?

1) As a child, they told me I rarely talked just watched others and how they behaved with intensity;

2) At times as writers we do not speak, open our mouths. Writing our thoughts down is the only way;

3) Our thoughts as writers are often deep and few can see or understand them, as if we say them they will not understand. As you say they are not even listening. So many have no soul or ability to move outside the box of every day getting by and personal survival. Yet we as writers can only ever try to survive by living outside the box of earthly constraints

4) They are blind. Even in writing them down we may also fail as they will not see still what we are struggling to express; and finally

5) The world and its constraints make us vulnerable. The thoughtful, not the practical in us makes us easy prey, be it in love or outside it and our bones are picked as if by vultures every day.

Look.

All I can say in the end from my take is to use the cliché (albeit we are supposed to hate them as writers, I give them honour as they would not have reached that commonality without being axiomatic and relevant to us all) the pen is mightier than the sword.

With all politeness, take your pen and change the world.

You need not kick a*s as they quaintly put it. Just sit like a fish on the sea bottom. They pick and they pick and yet you do not move.

But one day, you get bitten once too often and then you gobble them all up in published words.

Keep writing and talking to us all via this medium.

I for one want to hear more.

With words we can change the world.

Even just the one person with the one well chosen word at the right time.

I consider it part of our role as writers and thinkers.

So you will have seen by my commentary, a very thought provoking piece.

Thank you.

Go change the world we inhabit with your insight.

With my warmest regards as ever

James

This is very beautifully worded. I like the way you enable the possibility to play around with the meaning and thought. It shows a bitter side as well... Still, it is beautiful.
