A Ketchup Heart

A Ketchup Heart

A Poem by Emily Dickinson Jr.

You say you love me

It's a lie

You're the reason I cry inside

You ask what's wrong

I curse your soul

You're the reason I hurt

You hit a girl so small

Each hit I take

The smaller I get

The less I can take

The more I fake

One day I'll snap too hard

One day you'll see

The pain you gave

And I'll recieve

You said your guilty

But you saw I was alright

So you're not anymore

Your an adult so you must be right

This bleeding heart isn't real

It's only ketchup, right?

A powerful poem with a message. Can't abuse someone and expect them to be strong. We must be careful with words and actions. Dreams and goals can be killed in seconds. Thank you for the outstanding poem,.

heartfelt emotions. loving the last stanza. It is a very straightforward and one-to-one kinda poem, and that's why I liked it :D

thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it. humans are above all creatures of emotion and I am no exception
Uncut goodness Emily. Very straightforward in this poem. I like it. "Each hit I take
The smaller I get
The less I can take
The more I fake" Excellent rhythm here. Many of us feel pain and we often fake being okay. Good relations. Always nice to see parts in a poem that others can connect to. The ending of this poem is quite the catch "You said your guilty
But you saw I was alright

So you're not anymore

Your an adult so you must be right
This bleeding heart isn't real

It's only ketchup, right?" Playing around with people as if they're toys. Obviously the person who you speak of is rather cold. Another great write by Emily

I can understand abusive, it's poetry I have a problem with...That being said, I enjoyed this as it seemed to me to be more straight forward than most...

Thanx so much :-)
I'm kind of all over the place with this one. One way I read it and it sounds like a lover scorned type of piece and the other way, an abusive situation... Thank you for sharing. Powerful as always :)
