The Caterpillar

The Caterpillar

A Poem by Emily Dickinson Jr.
"

An interesting poem abot a caterpillar turning into a butterfly that had quite a few interesting interpretations when viewed as a metaphor. plz read.

"

Inch through life

A creature

below notice

Below standards

And Below beauty

Just to survive

We grapple

We hide

We climb

We exist

Ultimately

Our world goes black

The gentle white cotton

Blinds, binds, and mutes

The outside universe

Now it's only us

And our cuddly darkness

'It must be over'

This life of survival

For why else would

There be comforting darkness

A delightful abyss

Then the cotton falls to pieces

Blinding beams shoot into my world

Will the light blind me?

Was I blind before?

The rainbow binds my world now

The abyss was finite

And I'm not as I knew

I'm a beauty

I have wings

I'm meant to fly

So me, this wonderful me

So new

So True

As I fly

Toward sky so blue

No cotton walls to contain

No comfort to falsify

Only freedom not denied

I'm a senseless, defenceless

Invincible, individual

Butterfly

''I'm a beauty /I have wings/ I'm meant to fly.'' These verses alone flapped their delicate wings and flew right off the screen. A poignant piece that could be also a larger metaphor. About the transformation of our own lives. It is always nice when we re/ discover the poet. Very nice piece, EM.

So cool!! I love butterflies and how they make that transformation. From the caterpillar, to the cocoon, to the beautiful butterfly you made the words flow and express such feeling. Wonderful :)

aww thanx :-) glad you enjoyed it so much
taking life by every inch just slowly making it to destination till finally in life you have enough surely it must be more to it then this so you shelter yourself in the darkness of warm walls and transform yourself you come to light in life from being trapped in the pass stuck in nothingness only darkness and non accomplished dreams to only come free and fly through life. very good read here i like this as always keep writing fellow writer
