Strangers and Rain

Strangers and Rain

A Poem by Clarisse Nanoit
"

I can't stop writing about this one guy... He's pretty great. I don't really like this poem from a "writer's standpoint", but I like it because of the content and subject matter.

"

When we're laughing,

sometimes I don't see

the Heaven behind those windows

to your soul.

When we get serious, though,

and I look at you,

those eyes...

They have a straight shot

to my soul.

Sometimes I can't bear it.

From beside me,

I often feel them

assessing me.

It makes me nervous,

and I just don't understand

the words that usually follow.

"You're so beautiful."

You know how to

unsettle me

to the soul.

I have seen

thousands of eyes in my life.

There's no doubt about that.

One thing I've never seen,

is a set quite as amazing as those.

SOULFIRE

I won't say they're like oceans

or pools

or lakes

or icy water,

but I'm drowing in them fast.

Let me sink.

It's good for the soul.
