TREE OF HOPE.

TREE OF HOPE.

A Poem by sue

With every breathe of raging storms he has claimed his ground, as he stands tall,

with the sun burning down keeping his cool and giving protection, where his shadows fall.

majestic and strong roots hidden, binding himself to the tempting darkness of his fate,

spreading out to claim what is rightfully his with rooted talons that go deep beyond infinity,

saturating the land as he carpets the space where he stands with greens, reds and gold,

while all around his neighbours are losing their war to the fate of progress and all forlorn.

Branching out to the horizon of an open space leading to the pathway of heavens gate,

while reaching out to the light he protects those in his keep as they huddle up on a crispy morn.

Exploring the skies before the saw grins greedily  with metal teeth and sinks in to amputate,

his wounds exposed as his blood flows freely to fall on his dress that he shed till summer glows.

Not knowing his fate while just wanting to enjoy the last warmth of the season before sleep,

A fluttering of wings being a saving grace as they have claimed their space and in song call,

while protected in the shadows of his arms all cosy and warm, which they have called their home

he lives to fight another season with the friends he has given protection from the storms blown.
