Now And Then

Now And Then

A Poem by KatieJean

I wash away the smile that once lit up my face
Scrub away the layers of tears that now pierce my freckled skin
I find myself looking into an empty mirror, that the woman I once was
Is now lost inside of the girl I used to be
I'm caught between now and then
Having to fight a battle I cannot win
Choosing right from wrong all over again
Never seeing the what could've been
If only there was a chance to do it all again
I'd give another go at the things I didn't do
Maybe this time I'd know you better
Know you better, than to be with you.

A hollow bitterness that comes out the wistful and melancholy approach towards the deepest musings of present and past...a nice work indeed...

I liked the pathos here:

If only there was a chance to do it all again
I'd give another go at the things I didn't do

speaks so much to me you know...
