Lost Father

Lost Father

A Poem by KatieJean

I lost him years ago before I knew who he really was
He said he was coming back
Coming back to sing me my lullaby
And every night I laid awake in bed listening
Listening to the sounds of the darkness
Wondering if one was his

Wondering,
If he would come and sing me to sleep like he used to
His songs, just a memory slowly fading away
The words mean nothing like they once did
So very long ago

Now he’s just a childhood memory
One that you never really let go and now
His voice has long since faded
The songs I can’t quite remember
And he still hasn’t come back to sing me
My lullaby.

This is so sad and it makes my heart heavy. I do not know why you have no reviews here. This is something that, sadly, many could relate to. Well done.
