Just Like The Rose

Just Like The Rose

A Poem by KatieJean

Just like the rose that once grew strong and wild
Everything must fall weak and fearful
I hold my fragile heart in the palms of my weathered hands
For only me to hold,
Scared that it will become broken and lifeless
The pieces falling between the cracks of my fingers
Falling to a life without the beauty and warmth
Of what it is to be loved
Scared to move forward but not wanting to go back
To the mistakes of my past
I cry out for help,
What must I do to save myself from this hell on earth?
How can I not make the same mistakes that were made before me?
There’s no way of knowing what feels right without jumping in head first
My fragile heart can’t take anymore of this
I need someone to tell me
Tell me, what I need to do
Before all that’s left of my heart are the broken pieces
Falling slowly to the ground.
