A Life Before the End

A Life Before the End

A Poem by Amanda

The light begins to fade,
and shadows start to extend.
The careless clock ticks by,
it’s time for darkness to descend.

Will you, near to the very end,
say this for real, and not pretend:
“I’m proud of how and what I did,
it was a life well meaningfully lived?”

Or will you be filled with
shame, remorse and pain,
screaming on the inside,
for a chance to begin again?

I like this. It's true, it's from within and you ask the question, "...or will you be filled with shame". I am drawn to this truth and open window.

Such a deep poem. Well written. Great piece. Life is too short, do more of what makes you happy.

Getting along in years, I have reflected lately on choices I've made that shouldn't have been as well as those I never acted on. I believe that reflection is good only if it causes us pause to more carefully consider future actions we mat or may not take.

You asked the right questions.
"Or will you be filled with
More shame, remorse and pain
Screaming on the inside
For a chance to begin again?"
Yesterday is gone. Learn from yesterday and live for today. What we didn't do break our heart more than what we did. Thank you Amanda for sharing the excellent poetry.

Gee
Who knows eh. At this moment in time I think I could leave with a contented sigh. Enjoyed this but for me a more even flow would make it a tad better.
