An Illusion

My heart broke

It keeps breaking

It's always broken

My heart is never whole

Without you I'm okay

I'm surviving

But I'm rarely fully happy

There's a hole

You're dark chocolate

I desperately crave sweetness

And it always turns out bitter

I always regret it

If I loved you

It's the worst love

A person could go through

Because it still has a painful grip

You're a toxic person

They don't know it hits

Until it's too late

And the damage is done

A snake looks cool

Until it bites you

The burning in your blood

Never seems to leave

You're a rainbow

Beautiful while you're seen

But then realization hits

...You are only an illusion

I've accept how I felt

And I know how I feel now

I know you don't care now

And I doubt you ever did

I'm not trying to forget you

It just can't be done

I can only keep living my life

And feeling what is real- the warm sun
