My Coming Out

My Coming Out

A Poem by Fuego31
"

When I decide to come out to my family, I might use this poem to do it.

"
What if I told you
You don't know me
Not all of me
But I want you to
I haven't been fake
I haven't been dishonest
I just left some things out
And I want to fill you in
I don't want what you think I want
And I don't want them to want me
Do you know what I mean?
They're girls
I don't want girls
They're great as friends
But nothing more
I want something different
I like guys
Do you understand?
I know this is big
But I wanted you to know
I'm still the same
As you knew me before
This is just me
And you know something more
I'm not different
I'm me
I am who I'm going to be
Can you accept that
I know you love me
Can you take who I am?
I just need to be me
I need you to understand
Please say it'll be okay
Say it's all fine
Because if not
I'll lose my mind
Do you get it?
This is it
My big statement

Wow I really liked this poem. You really painted clear imagery in it, and it is a beautiful way to come out. As it so happens, I'm a lesbian myself, so I can totally relate. I thought I was bi for a while, but it has become clear I'd rather be with a girl. I like guys as friends, and a lot of my friends are guys. But as far as love, I really want a girlfriend. So I completely understand what you mean, and I can totally relate. Great poem.

Cheers,

Staceyanna

This was beautiful and brave, and I am sure your family will understand, especially when you lay it down in such a clearly emotional way. Keep it up. =)

Sometimes I just write on random imagination and thoughts, but I mostly write what's inspired by my strongest emotion at that given moment. I've been been writing since I was 13 and I'm currently 24. .. more..
