Youthful Guidance

Youthful Guidance

A Poem by Poetry Cat
"

A girl who gets caught up in the fun and doesn't realize her life changing consequences.

"
Adventure is interesting
But it can sting
Choose the right crowd
The curiosity is loud.
Tune it out.
It's not for the clout.
Don't get tangled up
Its punishment is a cup.
You will get addicted;
And soon you will have to admit it.
You won't be able to stop.
Your life might end with a bucket and a mop.
Consequences are never ending.
There is no time left for mending.

A cautionary tale here. The speaker seems to be addressing young people in general, advising them to avoid getting caught up in the fast life. The advice to choose the right crowd is especially important, as finding a peer group means so much to the young. Things can get out of control quickly, the result being addiction, and I think the word is meant to be taken literally here. The last two lines in their stark brevity describe a world of consequences.
