Elegy.  A tribute

The curfew tolls the knell of parting day.

The lowing herd wind slowly o’er the lea.

The weary ploughman plods his homeward way.

And leaves the world to darkness and to me.

Thomas Gray 1716 -1771.

The curfew tolls the knell of parting day.

And peace enfolds the countryside.

By night the silver moon holds sway.

Providing light enough to see.

The lowing herd wind slowly o’er the lea.

Slowly and contentedly on their way.

The barn their night time sanctuary.

Until the sun signals the birth of day..

The weary ploughman plods his homeward way.

There‘s no doubt he will be glad to see.

After his long exhausting day.

His cottage door open invitingly.

And leaves the world to darkness and to me.

But as for me I am content to stay

And watch the daylight fade gradually.

As I reflect tomorrow is another day.
